With his advanced vocabulary and solid knowledge of grammar, Heros da Silva comes across like a lifelong English learner.
But when he first started learning with Mizarelli Productions, less than a year ago, he says his English was “at mute level” and he lacked the confidence to express himself.
The inquisitive young electrical engineer had never had private lessons before and was trying to teach himself the language from books and music – but realised he needed more intensive assistance.
As consultant for Ericsson, Heros works with Brazilian mobile network TIM on the development and rollout of its technology and services.
He’s also studying a Masters of Business Administration and knows that English will be the key to his future success.
“For career opportunities, like another position in my company, I need to have a good level of English. So I started learning”, Heros says.
“English also creates opportunities to get to know new people and places and to travel around the world, along with professional opportunities.”
In future, Heros hopes to sit the TOEFL Test and live and work in an English-speaking country, like Australia.
He believes there’s never been a more opportune time for Brazilians to start learning English or to improve their existing skills.
“Brazil’s economy is developing and Brazilians need to know English because everyone in business speaks the language.”
Com seu avançado vocabulário e sólido conhecimento de gramática, Heros da Silva aparenta ser um antigo aprendiz de inglês.
Mas quando ele começou a estudar na Mizarelli Productions, menos de um ano atrás, ele dizia que seu inglês estava no “nível mudo” e faltava-lhe a confiança para se expressar.
O jovem engenheiro elétrico nunca tinha tido aulas particulares antes e estava tentando aprender a língua de forma autodidática, a partir de livros e músicas – mas ele percebeu que precisava de uma assistência mais intensiva.
Como consultante da Ericsson, Heros trabalha com a operadora brasileira TIM no desenvolvimento e implantação da sua tecnologia e serviços.
Ele também está fazendo mestrado em Administração de Negócios e sabe que o inglês será a chave para o seu futuro sucesso.
“Para oportunidades na carreira, como outra posição na minha empresa, eu preciso ter um nível bom de inglês. Então eu comecei a estudar”, disse Hero.
“O inglês também cria oportunidades de se conhecer novas pessoas e lugares e viajar em volta do mundo, juntamente com oportunidades profissionais”
No futuro, Heros espera obter o certificado de proficiência do TOEFL e viver e trabalhar em um país falante de inglês, como a Austrália.
Ele acredita que nunca existiu um momento mais oportuno para os brasileiros começarem a aprender inglês ou aperfeiçoarem seus conhecimentos.
“A economia brasileira está se desenvolvendo e os brasileiros precisam saber inglês porque todos no ramo falam a língua”.
