Picasso and the Spanish Modernity - CCBB
4.5STARS

Prepare to be wowed! The Cubist master’s arrival in Rio is causing quite a stir downtown, with crowds queueing for hours to see his works in the flesh.

Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil is hosting Pablo Picasso’s works alongside noted fellow Spanish artists influenced by his works – among them Surrealists like Joan Miró and Salvador Dali.

The exhibition charts Picasso’s brilliant and revolutionary career through the early 20th century and his enormous influence on post-Cubist art movements.

It’s not every day we have the chance to see such historically important artworks in the flesh – especially for free! This exhibition includes about 90 pieces on loan from Madrid’s Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.

The exhibition runs until September 7, and your reviewer recommends a visit during a weekday, to avoid a lengthy wait.
